How to read a line

Every line in the ledger has a burn bar, and the selected line gets a waterfall in 04 Line. The figures follow three rules.

The burn barThe track runs past the revised budget, to 1.8 times it, so an overrun shows as length. A line 3% over and a line 60% over draw different bars.
03390Curing and sealing58.4%
03350Concrete finishing83.9%
03300Cast-in-place concrete107.5%

Actual costCommittedRevised budgetOver, past the tick
The waterfall · 03300Revised, less actual, less committed, equals remaining. Each bar spans the range its subtraction crosses, and on a line that has gone negative the last bar crosses the zero rule.
Revised$759,340
less Actual−$603,800
less Committed−$212,600
Remaining($57,060)
—Zero is an em dash. Most of a budget grid is zeroes, and a dash says so without having to be read.
($57,060)Negatives take parentheses. A minus sign can be lost at a column edge; brackets can’t.
$759,340No cents in the grid. They stay on each transaction, in the drawer, where they matter.
